The iris is the most information-rich reflex zone in the body. 

28,000 nerve endings communicate with the eye.  The science of iridology is practiced throughout the world - the most vigorous research and traditions being from Europe.  Many Med schools in Russia and Italy for instance teach Iridology.

So, an Iris reading is a useful adjunctive view of Constitutional and Health Status factors. 

It would be foolhearty to diagnose based on Iridology and some iridologist have made unsubstantiated claims in the past.  Yet iris findings can be useful in better understanding causative factors of an energetic and milieu (body terrain) nature.  Once again I will reiterate as a means of explaining the value of what I term - Genetic Traits in the Iris - by using a concept I have mentioned elsewhere on this website;  that is the  Chinese Medicine concept of Anterior and Posterior Heaven. 

Anterior Heaven has to do with our Constitutional endowment - our tendency toward milieu strengths and weaknesses and Posterior Heaven is representative of what we have actually done with our inheritance - either favorably or unfavorably.  We must keep in mind that we stand atop our gene pool.  Obviously Western Medicine understands this fact that we are a product of our genes and also our enviroment.  This interaction determines who we presently are and has a momentum that either supports or undermines our Health Status.

CONSTITUTION can be defined as:

The make-up and functional habit of the body determined by the genetic, biochemical and physiologic endowment of the individual.

 Constitutional Typology is otherwise referred to as 'diathesis'.

This a huge field of medicine and investigation with a great deal of diversity.  There are several European scientists and practitioners in this field whose work I follow.  Peter Mandel's work with Othalmotropic Genetic Therapy and the science of Esogetics.  Daniele Rito's (MD) whose work on Time Risk is very provocative and interesting and last but certainly not least - John Andrews who is a wonderful world-class educator and prolific chap from England who has written many books in this field.  (I will provide links and more information at a later time)

EYOLOGY

On the homefront I am following the work of Leonard Mehlmauer who is perhaps the foremost researcher in Sclera findings.  His work is termed EYOLOGY. 

The quadrants of the Sclera  are also  very  information-rich  reflex zones and  correspond s with  what I term above as  Anterior Heaven findings - in other words more developmental health stressors.  EYOLOGY provides more on an immediate view as opposed to genetic constitutional view.

Below is a Photoshop panorama of both the sclera and the iris.  Kind of strange looking, I know. 

As part of the initial intake for my patients I take corresponding pictures such as these for analysis and the patient's file.  Very often this information helps to inform effective treatments.  Often there is an unmistakable coorelation with other empirical and physical tests  I perform which provide a good check and balance for treatment rationale. 

The picture is a little blurry because I stretched it.  As you can see under high magnification vessel lines in the sclera become very obvious.
