Flower Essences are a global phenomena particularly popular in countries and cultures that are more close alligned to nature than perhaps our own culture at this time. Flower remedies are completely safe. Even if the wrong remedy is given there is no adverse affect. These are harmonizing remedies which help, for lack of a better word, our 'energy-body' to align and regulate with these subtle energies from nature. This is a sublte effect and affirmational to the wellness of our being. Who has not been struck by the fascination and beauty of a flower before?
So, Flower Essences are vibrational remedies similar to the energetic homeopathic remedies, yet prepared differently and reportized differently. Energetic medicines are what I like to refer to as - 'Informational Medicine'. Informational Medicine is best understood in the terms of quantum physics. (For sake of simplicity here, I will supply links elsewhere on this website to books and sites that deal with this field of energy medicine). Suffice it for now to say that the body requires 'information' as well as nutrient intervention at times.
There are numerous flower essence companies on the market from all over the world. Years ago in my travels in Northern California I visited a flower essence pharmacy. It was located in the living room of a house overlooking a ruggied coastline in a rather rural setting. Simply a beautiful and alluring setting for such a business. From the living room the owner was doing business global internet business and he said that people from South American countries were particularly attuned to flower remedies. He had over 50 flower essence company's products on shelves in the living room. I spent an intriguing afternoon investigating the different companies.
There are a whole spectrum of essences available from the traditional 38 English flower remedies of Dr. Edward Bach, and their longtime usage to treat a spectrum of physical and emotional ills, to very esoteric lines of flower essences that may well be beyond the scope of let's say ' a well grounded practice'. Below you will find some basics related to this topic and links to various websites I find of interest in this field. Please note also another service on my website is Floral Acupuncture which is the combination of using Bach Flower remedies in conjunction with Five Element Acupuncture. Please explore that topic also.
What are flower essences?
Flower essences are infusions of flowers in water, that are potentized and then stabilized in a solution of brandy and water. They contain no scent or perfume and should not be confused with essential oils. Flower essences are very dilluted preparations and should not also be confused with herbal tinctures.
Herbal tinctures are concentrated extracts of different plant parts and are commonly used to treat physical body symptoms. In fact, many of our modern medicines are synthetic versions of the extracts from plants.
Flower essences, on the other hand, while they may also stimulate physical healing, are used mainly to promote awareness of emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances.
In contrast with essential oils and herbal tinctures, we do not harvest or disturb the plant when making a flower essence. In most cases we use only a few wild flowers to prepare the infusion. It is stabilized with brandy and subsequently diluted to so that only minute traces of the chemical components from the original flowers remain, making then completely safe for use.

The medicine peoples of many cultures have used flower essences since ancient times, but only in the past seventy years or so, have they become better known.{1}
What are flower essences used for?
A flower essence is the vibrational imprint of a flower that has been transferred and stabilized in water. Flower essences can help us recognize, resolve, or release different conditioned ways of perceiving the world and can help us experience greater well-being and harmony in our lives. By creating harmony within us, we often notice distinct changes in ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. {1}
Flower essences are very effective in helping us to recognize and rid ourselves of limiting or destructive patterns of behavior. The essences support us in extending our consciousness beyond its present state. They provide a language that helps us to understand our emotions and inner soul urgings.{2}
What happens when I use flower essences?
As we use a flower essence, we begin to resonate in harmony with the qualities of the flower, and limitations and disharmonies begin to change. It is not necessary to believe in them to experience their benefic effects. They've been used successfully not only with adults and children, but also with animals and plants.
Flower essences do not overwhelm or force something to happen. They do, however, help us become conscious of things that are already happening with ourselves. As a result, sometimes we may have an awarenesses with which we are uncomfortable.
The essences effect a shift in consciousness, and each person may experience the effects differently. To recognize how they are working, it is necessary to observe our inner state. The more attuned we are to our inner life, the easier it is to recognize the flower essence's effects.
A balance between self-contemplation and feedback from trusted family members and friends is helpful to show us the changes that happened. Writing in a journal about our experiences can create clarity about the essences' effects.
If you like, you can see a professional flower essence counselor for additional help. It is very beneficial, when dealing with intense emotional processing, to seek help from an experienced practitioner. Working with a professional can help clarify processes and provide support for peeling off the layers of worldly cares that usually accompany healing processes.

Oral Administration
Place seven drops of flower essence from the dosage bottle under the tongue, preferably in the morning. Continue taking the remedy once or twice during the day.
In acute cases the seven drops may be added to a cup of water and a sip taken every fifteen or thirty minutes. If the patient is unconscious, do not give the remedy orally. In that case, directly apply it locally on the body (but not on open wounds).
Bath Therapy
First add the juice of a freshly cut half-lemon to cleanse the bath water, then add seven drops of any of these remedies to the bath water. Stay in the water tub for thirty minutes. Seven drops may also be put into a bucket full of water (if a tub is not available). Repeat this procedure, if required, only after twenty-four hours.
External Application
The remedy can also be used externally in compresses, packs, creams, lotions, ointments, oils etc. It can also be applied on acupressure points.
Note: These remedies are not a substitute for proper medical care. No claims are being made of any kind about them.
Lotus Flower
HARMONY THROUGH LOTUS
(Padma Flower Essence)
"Lotus is the foremost flower essence on this planet and is king of the flower essences."
The lotus grows in the muddy water of still ponds and lakes. It has its roots deep in the soil under water. The long, cyclindrical stalk passes through the water and rises above the water surface.
The magnificent blossom unfolds gradually one petal at a time, till full-bloomed in the morning when the sun's rays touch the flower.
As the lotus awakens and blooms at the first rays of the morning sun, the lotus and sun interdependence is a symbol of love.
The mud in which the lotus roots grow represents material life, while the water through which the stalk passes represents the astral world. When the plant reaches the surface of the water and opens its bud to the sun, it represents spiritual being.
The crown chakra is also called 'The Thousand-Petalled Lotus', which is a symbol of final revelation. It is believed that the transformation of the world into a paradise can occur through the lotus which expounds fully the oneness of all life.
In Buddhist tradition, the fully-opened lotus has a strong solar character and its petals are likened to the rays of the sun. It is a symbol of enlightenment in this tradition.
In Egyptian tradition also the same theme is repeated. The lotus brings harmony into all aspects of our being within and without.
